I liked the pilot for Once Upon a Time, so I will watch it for at least a few more episodes. It’s like a larger scale version of Enchanted. I thought the pilot dragged in a couple of spots, but overall I like the premise and the actors they chose.
I watched the first two episodes of this today and it’s my favorite new show, beating out all of the other new shows I’ve watched. Admittedly, that list is only comprised of New Girl and Charlie’s Angels, which was one of the most terrible things I’ve watched, but shouldn’t diminish the quality of New Girl. I’ve wanted to watch it since I first started seeing the ads (I like Zooey Deschanel), but am terrible at remembering important dates, let alone the date of a pilot. I’m glad I was reminded today because it was a great pick me up for the less than stellar day I had earlier.
In other news, I need to figure out what to read next. I finished The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo the night I posted about it not only because I enjoyed it, but because I was thoroughly freaked out by it and couldn’t go to sleep until I finished. The book’s sequels were finished that same week. I wish there were more, but there won’t be more.
I just finished the first episode of the second season of Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution. Is anyone else watching this? I hope so, because the problems in LA are not unique to that city.
Sometimes our kids get snacks before they’re sent to our after school RfS culinary class. These are not items we would serve to the kids. They get little baggies of cookies and/or crackers, and a sugar-laden juice pack. I realize the kids need a little boost of energy before heading to their after school programs, but this practice undermines what we are trying to achieve. Half the kids are plump, their uniforms straining and accentuating their body fat. The sugar doesn’t help concentration, either. It makes them hyper and unable to control their actions.
Maybe after Jamie’s done with season 2 he can come to Houston? We need help! Recipe for Success is doing great work, but nationwide focus on our city would bring Houston’s childhood obesity issue back into the light.
I finally watched the first few episodes of Archer. It’s been on the back-burner for a while because I wasn’t in the mood for irreverent humor. I guess I am now because this show is hilarious. The animation is reminiscent of The Venture Bros., but Archer is like James Bond + Charlie Sheen stuck in The Office.
Yet another reminder to continue watching the current season of Doctor Who. I want to, but I’m stuck at the return of the stone angels (episode 4 or so?). Gah, those things freak me out like none other - as a small child I was scared of the cherub heads in my grandma’s bathroom, so you can only imagine my reaction to intentionally scary adult angels.
Wow. I wish I didn’t just find out that you can watch episodes of House Hunters International on Hulu. Marathon! (Although I’ve probably seen most of these.)
